Known for their attractive pink colour, the conch pearl is one of the rarest types of pearls, with only one out of every ten thousand Queen conch mollusc’s containing a pearl, of which only twenty percent are gem quality.
Found exclusively in the tropical waters of the Caribbean, these pearls a true collectors gem. Today, as a result of rising sea temperatures and overfishing and the impact this has on marine ecosystems, what was once regarded as a rare gem is rapidly becoming an extremely rare gem.
This necklace features an extraordinary natural conch pearl with a soft pink hue, and a smooth shiny porcelain lustre. This pearl features the exquisite silky looking flame structure, characteristic of the finest conch pearls.

The world’s oldest gemstone, the pearl has a long and illustrious history, which predates written history. Admired for their beautiful lustre, the pearl is a miracle of nature and amongst the most highly coveted gems of all time.
In 1901, Edward VII became king and hailed in the new Edwardian age. The turn of the twentieth century brought with it many innovations and discoveries. Plastic is invented, Einstein discovered relativity and Madame Curie discovered (to her cost) radioactivity. The British Empire spanned the globe, from Canada and Australia to India and parts of Africa.
