Sapphire and diamond cluster ring. Set to centre with a cushion shape old cut natural no heat sapphire in an open back claw setting with a weight of 2.18 carats, encircled by forty-nine round eight cut diamonds in open back grain and rubover settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.49 carats and decorated to the shoulders with four round eight cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.04 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.53 carats, to an elegant cluster design featuring scalloped edging with millegrain detail, a pierced gallery and fancy shape open backholing, leading to raised shoulders which flow through to a solid partially grooved shank. Tested platinum, maker's mark 'SB', French, circa 1915, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5785-3463.
