This ring is in excellent condition.
According to the Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF), the term “pigeon blood red” is reserved for rubies that meet an exceptionally strict set of criteria. The stone must display a highly saturated, vivid red colour with no obvious brown or blue modifier, together with strong red fluorescence, which contributes to the remarkable inner glow associated with the finest rubies. The colour should be evenly distributed when viewed face-up, with no significant zoning, while the stone must possess sufficient clarity, brilliance and quality of cut to allow the intensity of its colour to be fully appreciated. Importantly, SSEF will only award the “pigeon blood red” designation to natural, unheated rubies.

Rubies that fulfill all of these stringent requirements are exceptionally scarce and are deemed among the rarest and most highly prized coloured gemstones on the market.
