Developed in the late 17th century and attributed to the Venetian diamond cutter Vincenzo Peruzzi, the Peruzzi cut is exceptionally rare, with very few examples surviving today. Among the most celebrated is the Dresden White diamond, a magnificent stone of approximately 50 carats, which once formed part of an elaborate Order of the Golden Fleece jewel alongside the famous Dresden Green diamond, both belonging to the Saxon royal collection.
