Old mine diamond solitaire ring. Set with one cushion shape old mine diamond in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.70 carats, to an elegant solitaire design featuring curving claws, a polished gallery and circular open backholing, the integrated shoulders with carved detail flow through to a solid D-shape shank. Marked 15 carat gold, late 19th Century.

Director's Notes

A belcher setting traces directly to the mid to late Victorian era and where they were loved for their durability and practicality. As prongs were carved into the mountings, this allowed a more flush setting, whereby the table of the stone became level with the metal surface.
