The cushion old mine cut was first seen in the 18th century. Designed for candlelight conditions, these early diamonds featured larger facets, high crowns, and deeper pavilions, maximising brilliance under low lighting. During the Victorian era, this cut became widely used throughout jewellery, valued for their soft shape and romantic appearance.
