The total approximate diamond weight is 1.45 carats, to an elegant design featuring smooth polished edges and open backholing, leading to conforming and flowing through to a solid . 18 carat yellow , numbered '1189', signed 'WEMPE', German, 1970.

Director's Notes

The central diamond has been assessed by our in house gemmologist as being approximately F - G colour, VS1 clarity, settings permitting.

The firm of Wempe was established in 1878 by Gerhard D. Wempe, a pioneering figure in the German jewellery and watch trade and by 1914, the company had expanded to four shops in Hamburg. By 1979, they had over ten showrooms in Germany, and from the 1980s have extended their reach with international boutiques in New York, London and Vienna, amongst others.

Whilst particularly known in the realm of watchmaking, they also produce fine jewellery of exceptional quality. Today, the business is still run by the Wempe family, and is set to remain so for generations to come.
