Diamond five stone ring. Set to center with one cushion old mine diamond in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.50 carats, flanked by four cushion old mine diamonds in openback claw settings with a combined weight of 1.45 carats, further adorned by eight round rose cut diamonds with a combined weight of 0.08 carats. The total combined approximate diamond weight is 2.03 carats, to an elegant five stone design featuring polished edges, an intricately carved gallery with a scrolling motif and fancy shape open backholing leading to carved shoulders and flowing through to a solid D-Shape shank. Marked 18 carat gold, full hallmarks for Birmingham, maker's mark 'CE&FdLd' for Constantine & Floyd, indistinct marks, English, 1906.

Director's Notes

Constantine & Floyd was founded by Alfred Constantine and William Henry Floyd in 1880, when they first registered their Hallmark in Birmingham. Known for producing fine quality small items such a jewellery and silverware, they expanded to other assay offices such as Chester and London, opening a showroom in Hatton Garden in 1903. Acquired in 1931, fully hallmarked pieces from Constantine & Floyd are scarce, constituting a rare piece of British jewellery making history.
