 Description

Burmese ruby and diamond flanked solitaire ring. Set to centre with a marquise shape old cut natural unenhanced Burmese ruby in an open back claw setting with a weight of 1.47 carats, flanked by fourteen round old cut diamonds in open back rubover and grain settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.36 carats, to an elegant design featuring curving claws, a smooth gallery and intricate open backholing, leading to an elegant tapered shoulders which flow through to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold and platinum, circa 1915, accompanied by Deutsche Stiftung Edelsteinforschung (DSEF) report #038904.

 Comments

Rubies from Burma (Myanmar) have been treasured since at least the 6th century AD and are renowned for their rich, vibrant red colour. Fine-quality, natural, unenhanced Burmese rubies have long been among the most sought-after gemstones, admired both historically and today.
