Marked 18 carat yellow gold, maker's mark "B.H.J" for B.H Joseph & Co, full hallmarks for Chester, English, 1867.

This ring is in good condition commensurate with its age.
A gypsy setting is a type of setting whereby the gemstone is sunk into its mount with the table facet flush with the mount surface. Usually there are one to three stones in the ring. This is a popular Victorian setting. This piece is fully hallmarked by the Chester Assay office, which closed in 1962 adding to the rarity of this piece. Founded in 1865 by Barnet Henry Joseph and his brother Henry Joseph in 1865 in Birmingham, which were known for their high quality Victorian and Edwardian jewellery.
