Rejecting the organic and sinuous shapes of the Edwardian and Belle-Epoque eras, the Art Deco period was particularly transformative for jewellery. The end of the First World War brought a hunger for novice designs, characterised by geometric lines. Developments in cutting technology allowed for new angular cuts to be faceted, whilst platinum became the metal of preference for its ability to be worked in light yet robust designs.
Featuring 1.25 carat natural unehanced sapphire, this sapphire embodies the design ethos of the Art Deco period, with its tilted orientation and use of baguette diamonds resulting in a striking and one-of-a-kind piece.
