Created by Joseph Asscher in 1902, the Asscher cut brought a bold new geometry to diamonds. The family’s Amsterdam firm earned its reputation cutting legendary stones, including the Excelsior and the Cullinan, whose principal gems now form part of the British Crown Jewels.
The Asscher cut was the first patented diamond cut and surviving pre-war examples are prized for their scarcity and beautifully balanced proportions.
