Cabochon Ceylon sapphire and diamond cluster ring. Horizontally set to centre with an oval cabochon natural no heat Ceylon sapphire in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 8.60 carats, encircled by a cluster of fifty round old single cut diamonds in open back grain settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.50 carats, interspersed with eight triangular calibré cut natural unenhanced sapphires in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.40 carats. The total approximate sapphire weight is 9.00 carats, to an ornate openwork design with millegrain borders, an intricately pierced gallery and open backholing, the trumpeting shoulders with floral motifs leading to a slim D-shape shank. Tested platinum, circa 1920, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #78156-01.
