The cut down setting is a method by which a gemstone is held by metal being pushed over the stone in raised intervals by narrow vertical strips of metal. This technique is typically seen in jewellery of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when gemstones were not as uniform in shape.

These earrings feature hand crafted cut-down settings paired with beautifully hand cut diamonds making this piece an exquisite mark of edwardian craftsmanship.
