Victorian sapphire and diamond coronet cluster ring. Centrally set with an octagonal emerald cut natural no heat Ceylon sapphire with an approximate weight of 8.50 carats, surrounded by fourteen cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back cut-down and grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 4.20 carats, accented with four round rose cut diamonds with a combined approximate weight of 0.04 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 4.24 carats, to an impressive elongated cluster design, featuring polished edges, a gadrooned gallery and oval open backholing, leading to ornate scrolling split shoulders which terminate in ridged detail, and flowing through to a solid D-shaped shank. Marked in 18 carat yellow gold, settings tested silver, circa 1870, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5785-3901.
