Georges Lenfant for Hermès cufflinks. A matching pair of cufflinks, each composed of a twisted wire with knots to each end, approximately 2.2cm in width. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, total approximate weight of 21.0 grams, makers mark for Georges Lenfant, signed 'Hermès Paris', numbered '40492', French, circa 1970.
George Lenfant was a pioneer of 20th Century jewellery craftsmanship, that produced pieces for some of the most prestigious French ‘maisons’, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier and of course Hermès. Finely woven textures, and varying circular and twist motifs are all typical of Lenfant pieces of the 60s and 70s, as demonstrated by these cufflinks, which remain highly desirable and wearable today.
