Victorian sapphire five stone ring. Set to centre with a cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced Ceylon sapphire in an open back claw and grain setting with an approximate weight of 0.80 carats, further set with four cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced sapphires in open back claw and grain settings with a combined weight of 1.60 carats, and decorated further with ten round rose cut diamonds in closed back rubover and grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.10 carats. The total approximate sapphire weight is 2.40 carats, to a graduating five stone design featuring stylised claws, an ornately carved gallery with scrolling motifs and open and closed backholing, leading to carved shoulders and flowing through to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, circa 1890, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5783-1420.
