Set to centre with an oblong crystal slice covering plaited hair in a setting, encircled by a row of ten half seed pearls with four further set to the in closed back settings, flanked by ornate foliate rows bordering a black enamel central strip with lettering 'IN MEMORY OF', with conforming engraved with 'Shearman Bird Esq. 0BT. April 2 1824 AET.74'. 18 yellow gold, full hallmarks for London, 'SB', English, 1824.

Shearman Bird Esq., originally from Southampton, was a senior court judge in India and served for over fifty years.
