Victorian Burmese sapphire five stone ring. Set to centre with an oval old cut natural no heat Burmese sapphire in an open back claw and grain setting with an approximate weight of 1.30 carats, further set with four oval old cut natural unenhanced Burmese sapphires in open back claw and grain settings with a combined weight of 3.04 carats, and decorated further with eight round eight cut diamonds in closed back grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.08 carats. The total approximate sapphire weight is 4.34 carats, to a graduating five stone design featuring stylised claws, an ornately carved gallery with scrolling motifs and open and closed backholing, leading to carved shoulders with ridging detail and flowing through to a solid D-shape shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold and settings tested silver, French import mark, circa 1890, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5785-2396.
