This piece bears the hallmark of a bearded man, known in French as 'Mascaron' or 'tête d'homme barbu'. This mark means that the piece was imported into France and marked as French law requires. This mark was first introduced introduced in France in 1913 and discontinued in 1926, making it a rare hallmark for a piece of antique jewellery to contain.
