Director's Notes

The maker's mark for Jacques Cornichon features a rising sun in between the two initials. Cornichon was based in 22 rue des Martinets, Kremlin-Bicêtre, Paris, and was known to be active from 1954.

Illusion settings, such as the one featured in this ring, are a particularly clever design and can be seen throughout French jewellery in the first half of the twentieth century. Typically crafted in white metal, they act to give the diamond an additional dimension across the finger and often feature intricate details on their galleries.
