Edwardian diamond and calibré cut ruby cluster ring. Set to centre with one round old cut diamond in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 0.20 carats, further set with sixteen round old cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.60 carats, embellished at the cardinal points with four triangular step cut natural rubies in open back rubover settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.12 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.60 carats, to an ornate oval cluster design featuring openwork details with millegrain eging, a pierced linear gallery and fancy shape open backholing, leading to smooth rounded shoulders and flowing through to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold and platinum, circa 1910.
