Victorian ruby five stone ring. Horizontally set with a graduated row of five cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced rubies in open back claw settings with an approximate combined weight of 3.40 carats, further set with eight round rose cut diamonds in closed back rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.08 carats, to an elegant half hoop design, with an intricately carved gallery with scrolling motifs and open backholing, flanked by trumpeting shoulders with ornate detail and leading through to a solid tapering D-shape shank. Tested 18 carat yellow gold, circa 1890.
