Diamond flanked solitaire ring. Set to the centre with a round old cut diamond in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.50 carats, flanked by fourteen round eight cut diamonds open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.28 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.78 carats, to an elegant solitaire design featuring millegrain edging, an intricately pierced gallery and openbackholing, leading to raised sloping shoulders and flowing through to a solid square shank. Marked platinum and iridium, engraved 'E. M. to J. N., 3-21-', American, circa 1940.
