Vintage diamond solitaire ring. Set to the centre with a round old cut diamond in an open back claw setting with a weight of 0.50 carats, decorated on either side with two rows of fourteen round eight cut diamonds open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.28 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.78 carats, to an elegant solitaire design featuring millegrain details, intricately pierced openwork gallery and fancy backholing, the raised sloping shoulders continue to a solid square shank, the inside of the shank engraved in script 'E. M. to J. N., 3-21-', Marked platinum and iridium, American, circa 1940.
