Set horizontally to centre with an oval red glass cabochon intaglio in a closed backrubover setting, finely carved with a female bust, leading to heavy integrated shoulders and flowing through to a tapering D-shapeshank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 8.75 grams in weight, circa 3rd-4th century AD, accompanied by an Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence report stating the composition of the metal.
The intaglio set in this ring is carved with minute precision, each line building up the image which is crisply executed and is in excellent condition.
