Description

Ancient Roman gold ring with intaglio of female bust. A horizontally set oval red glass cabochon intaglio depicting a female bust in a closed back collet setting, with substantial shoulders leading smoothly to a tapering D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 8.5g in weight, 3rd-4th century AD, accompanied by an Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence report stating the composition of the metal.

The intaglio set in this ring is carved with minute precision, each line building up the image which is crisply executed and is in excellent condition.
