Description

Ancient Roman gold ring with Minerva intaglio. Set centrally with an oval hardstone intaglio, finely engraved with an image of the goddess of wisdom and war, Minerva, who is depicted standing wearing a helmet and holding a spear and shield, in a closed back rubover setting, surrounded by a finely pierced filigree pattern with flower motifs, the broad rounded integrated shoulders taper down to a hollow D-shaped shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 7.37g in weight, circa 3rd-4th century AD, accompanied by Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence analysis report stating the composition of the metal.
