This month the spotlight is on the upcoming wedding celebrations of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

There has been much excitement about what the royal bride will wear as the stylish American actress is known for her elegant yet unconventional style. Her engagement ring was a bespoke three stone ring designed by Prince Harry to have special significance for the couple. Created by the court jewellers Cleave and Company, the ring features a diamond from Botswana to the centre, flanked by two dazzling old cut diamonds on either side from the personal collection of Diana, Princess of Wales. It is thought the couple will continue with the Royal tradition of having Welsh gold wedding bands as worn by the most recent Royal bride Catherine Middleton.

The Duchess of Cambridge also continued the Royal tradition of adorning her ensemble with a diamond set tiara. With an array of choices from the Royal collection, Catherine chose the Cartier Halo Scroll tiara. Lent to her by the Queen for the day, the tiara was originally commissioned by HRH The Duke of York (later King George VI) for his wife HRH The Duchess of York (later Queen Elizabeth) in 1936.  The tiara was presented to Princess Elizabeth (now HM The Queen) by her mother on her 18th birthday. This show stopping head piece has never been worn publicly by the Queen however, it has appeared at public events adorning Princess Margaret and Princess Anne, before their own jewellery collections grew.

Speculation surrounding Ms Markle’s choice of tiara continues to grow. Will she borrow a tiara from the British Royal Family? Or will she make headlines and borrow the Spencer Family tiara, made famous by her late Mother-in-law Princess Diana? Whatever the jewellery choice, the upcoming nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are sure to captivate our nation.
