Cartier diamond solitaire ring. Set to centre with a round old cut diamond, D colour, VS1 clarity, with a weight of 3.27 carats in an open back claw setting, flanked by two rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.60 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 3.87 carats, to an impressive solitaire design featuring curving claws, a structural openwork gallery and geometric open backholing, flanked by trumpeting shoulders which flow through to a solid tapering flat shank. Tested platinum, signed 'Cartier Paris', numbered '6248', French, circa 1950, accompanied by GIA report #6224797950.

Known all around the world today for their incredible craftsmanship and aesthetic, Cartier was founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier. By 1909, with bases in Paris, London and New York, the House of Cartier was a truly global tour de force. Cartier Paris was managed by Louis Cartier, Grandson of Louis-Francois, and he moved the shop to its current location on the Rue de la Paix in 1898. Louis was the driving force behind many of the maison’s most well-known designs and innovations. From establishing the use of platinum and the introduction of the garland style to the incorporation of ancient artefacts and motifs, Louis Cartier created designs that appealed to the elite all over the world.

Centrally set with a rectangular emerald-cut natural unenhanced Kashmir sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 2.12 carats, further set with six tapered rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.70 carats, to a geometric flanked solitaire design featuring curving split corner claws, a structured linear pierced gallery and square open backholing flanked by trumpeting openwork shoulders leading down to a solid tapered D-shape shank. Marked platinum, circa 1935, accompanied by Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF) report #123701.
