 Description

René Boivin Art Deco diamond cocktail ring designed by Juliette Moutard. Set with seventeen round old cut diamonds to three horizontal rows, five slightly larger to centre with the remaining twelve to two framing rows, in open back grain settings with rubover borders and a combined weight of 1.34 carats, flanked by two square step cut diamonds diagonally set in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.50 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.84 carats, to a concave cluster design, all to a heavy conforming band with stepped central section and intricate square backholing, flowing smoothly down to a lightly tapered flat solid shank. Tested platinum, marked 'TM FRANCE', French, circa 1934, accompanied by official supporting documentation confirming the design is by Juliette Moutard for René Boivin.

Juliette Moutard was a prominent and talented designer of bold, original pieces who worked for the House of René Boivin from 1931 until her retirement in 1970.
