 Description

Georgian gold posy ring 'Undesignedly kept'. The plain D-shape band engraved to the interior in italic script 'Undesignedly kept', approximately 3mm in width. Tested yellow gold, maker's mark 'L.K' beneath a crown, approximately 2.19g in weight, circa 18th century.

This posy motto is unusual- there is no variation or similar motto whatsoever listed in Joan Evan's catalogue of posies. See Evans, J., 'English Posies and Posy Rings', 1931.
