Post Medieval goldposy ring 'Dispise not me for I Love thee'. A smoothly conforming D-shape band, engraved to the interior in italic script 'Dispise not me for I Love thee', approximately 3mm in width. Tested yellow gold, approximately 2.9 grams in weight, maker's mark 'TB',circa 18th century.
The maker's mark 'TB' may stand for Thomas Blake, a goldsmith active in Exeter, Devon, in the mid 18th century. There is only one extant example of this posy listed- however with a sightly different spelling, see Evans, J., 'English Posies and Posy Rings' p.31.
