Georgian amethyst mourning ring. A yellow gold ring set with an oval amethyst, in a rubover collet setting with conforming closed back, on a tapered knife edge shank, the inner shank engraved: ‘John Taylor ob ---ce, 11 Sep 1764’, and the underside of the setting engraved: ‘of whose activity, skill & integrity in business & courage exerted in the War his employer wears this grateful memorial’.
