Diamond and sapphire cluster ring. Centrally set with a round old cut diamond in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 0.50 carats, encircled by a single row of twenty round old single cut diamonds and further set to the shoulders in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.40 carats, further set with eight calibre cut natural unenhanced sapphires in open back channel settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.30 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.90 carats, to an elegant cluster featuring millegrain edging, an ornate scrolling pierced gallery and fancy shape open backholing, flanked by open work shoulders leading to a solid tapering D-shape shank. Tested white gold, circa 1920.
