Description
Stuart pink topaz and diamond brooch. Set to centre with a single oval old cut pink topaz in a closed back cut down setting with an approximate weight of 2.50 carats, surrounded by nine oval rose cut diamonds in closed back cut down settings with an approximate combined weight of 1.00 carats, to an elegant openwork brooch design featuring scrolling details, floral motifs and beaded decoration, fitted to reverse with secure later hinged pin and scroll clasp. Tested silver and gold, circa 1700. This piece is an extremely rare example from its time.
