Plique a jour enamel pendant. A circular pendant featuring a red, blue, green and yellow plique a jour enamelled design, fitted to top with a secure bale, pendant approximately 3.7cm in length. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, maker's mark 'A C', French, circa 1900.
As plique a jour enamel is transparent, it closely resembles stained glass. In particular, the design of the enamel on this piece bears similarities to the rose window in Notre Dame cathedral, a popular inspiration for such pendants.
