The most expensive drama produced by Netflix to date, The Crown will follow the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947 up until the present day. The first season, which is set to make its online debut this weekend, focuses on the early part of the Queen’s reign with British actress Claire Foy playing the young monarch. Subsequent seasons will each explore a different decade of the Queen’s reign, focusing on the many aspects of her life – from her engagements in the public sphere to personal dramas unfolding behind the gates of the royal palaces.
The first season will encompass some of the most exciting years of the monarch’s life, both publicly and privately – her marriage and the subsequent births of both Prince Charles and Princess Anne, the coronation and Princess Margaret’s scandalous engagement to Peter Townsend. The Queen travelled extensively during this early part of her reign, embarking on a worldwide tour in 1953 and visiting over thirteen countries, becoming the first reigning monarch to visit Australia and New Zealand.
Costing in excess of £100 million to make, The Crown features exquisitely made replicas of the Queen’s wardrobe and jewels – the latter of which we are most keen to see! With well-stocked vaults of royal jewels to choose from, for over sixty years the Queen has wowed in exquisite bejewelled ensembles, and is rarely seen in public without her trademark pearl necklace and accompanying brooch.
To mark this highly anticipated series debut, we have compiled a selection of regal jewels that wouldn’t look out of place in her Majesty’s own collection. Browse this most majestic of collections online or visit us in store.
