Description

Yellow gold buckle ring. A yellow gold ring composed of a carved belt buckle design to centre, further adorned with intricately engraved textured designs to a slim smoothly conforming solid shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, full Finnish hallmarks for Viipuri/Viborg, markers mark 'MG', approximately 1.31g in weight, circa 18th-19th century AD. This item is in excellent condition, commensurate with its age.

A Buckle Ring has been traditionally given as a token of love or friendship over the course of several centuries. Belt and Buckle motif jewellery symbolized that the giver and recipient were as well matched as a belt and it's buckle.
