Victorian opal and diamond diamond cluster ring. Set with three oval cabochon natural opals in open back claw and grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 1.50 carats, further set with thirty round mixed old cut diamonds in open back cut-down and grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.60 carats, to a triple cluster design featuring stylised claws, a linear engraved gallery and fancy shape open backholing, leading to smooth shoulders and tapering through to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold and platinum, circa 1890.
