Victorian diamond snake ring. Set with two cushion shape old minediamonds in open backgrain settings with a combined weight of 0.14 carats, further set with four round rose cut diamonds to the eyes in closed back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.04 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.18 carats, to a solid sinuous design composed from two coiled serpents, with finely pierced circular backholing, terminating in a thick ridged shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, indistinct full English hallmarks, inscribed '106', circa 1890.
