Van Cleef & Arpels onyx and diamond 'Philippine' ring. Set with eighteen round single cut diamonds in grain settings with an approximate total weight of 0.6 carats to a central curving bezel within gold ropework borders, flanked by tapering dome shaped onyx, smoothly conforming down the shoulders to a yellow gold D-shape shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, interior of band with maker's mark 'VCA', numbered '68 B 5001 X L.2'2', exterior of band with additional maker's mark 'P&Fils' for Péry et Cie, French, circa 1960s.
Péry worked as manufacturer for Van Cleef & Arpels, but also worked for Boivin, Mellerio and other important French jewelers. Péry was responsible for some of VCA's most iconic 20th century designs including the Ludo bracelet and the zipper necklace. The Péry ateliers are now owned by VCA.
