Set with an octagonal step cut natural amethyst to centre in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 20.00 carats, within a heavy step down collet with intricate twist pattern borders to an ornate pierced gallery of flowing foliate designs, flanked by supportive trefoil split shoulders, leading to a solid tapered heavy flat shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold with French provincial mark, maker's mark 'GA', French, circa 1890.
