Description

Roman gold signet ring. A yellow gold ring composed of a flattened bezel engraved with 'sitio' (I thirst in Latin) in seriffed capitals, the broad trumpeting shoulders lead to a solid tapering D-shape shank, approximately 23 mm. Tested yellow gold, circa 1st-2nd century AD.

This ring is in fine condition with an attractive patina.

'I thirst' represents a saying that Jesus apparently said on the cross during his crucifixion.
