Edwardian opal and diamond coronet cluster ring. Set to the centre with an oval cabochon natural unenhanced opal in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 1.80 carats, encircled by twenty two cushion shape old mine eight cut diamonds in open back rubover and grain settings with a combined weight of 0.44 carats, further set with six cushion shape old mine eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.12 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.56 carats, to an elegant coronet cluster design featuring millegrain edging, an intricately engraved gallery and fancy open backholing, flanked by diamond set shoulders with millegrain borders flowing through to a grooved tapered shank. Tested platinum, circa 1910.
