Belle Époque sapphire and diamond ring. Set to centre with a cushion shaped old cut natural unenhanced sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.50 carats, and further enhanced by fifty eight round old cut diamonds in open back grain and rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 1.20 carats, all to a marquise shaped cluster ring with millegrain and foliate openwork decoration, the ridged closed gallery and intricately pierced backholing proceeding to slender tapering shoulders and terminating in a grooved D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold and platinum, French, circa 1905.
