Description

Edwardian sapphire and diamond snake ring. Set with a round old cut natural unenhanced sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.30 carats, further set with twenty two round old cut diamonds in open back claw, grain and rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.80 carats, all to a stylised snake form featuring millegrain edging, openwork decoration and intricately pierced backholing, leading to grooved asymmetric shoulders and flowing through to a D-shape shank. Tested 14 carat yellow gold and platinum, circa 1905.
