Ancient Roman gold ring with bird intaglio. Set with a carnelian intaglio incised with a portrait of a bird in a closed back rubover setting with a beaded ten point star gallery, leading to a solid grooved D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 4.1g in weight, circa 3rd-4th century AD.
This ring is a fine example of Ancient Roman craftsmanship, showcasing several highly technical goldworking techniques and is in good condition, commensurate with its age.
