Description

Ancient Roman double headed snake ring. A smoothly conforming ring in the form of a sinuous double headed snake, composed of a single rounded wire with a twisted rope design, the two drop shaped heads are featured adjacent to one another at either end and include incised decorative details. Tested yellow gold, approximately 5.4g in weight, circa 2nd-3rd century AD, accompanied by an Oxford Labs X-ray fluorescence report stating the composition of the metal.

Snakes are one of the earliest motifs used in jewellery and in ancient times were thought to represent the unending circle of life and everlasting love.
