Description
Ancient Roman bird intaglio ring. Centrally set with an oval banded agate intaglio, featuring a finely engraved profile of a bird with intricately carved feathers and clasping a rounded object, in a closed back Roman stet setting, bordered by a finely ribbed recessed border and flanked to either side with decorative golden granules, the broad shoulders feature deep ridged details which continue to a solid shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 3.7g in weight, circa 4th century AD.
This is a museum quality ring, and a very skilful example of Ancient Roman craftsmanship and is in fine condition, commensurate with its age.
