From ancient Celtic, Egyptian, Greek to Roman, at Berganza we are proud to offer an extensive range of ancient jewellery.
With exquisite detailing, these items were crafted at a time when every piece was created by master craftsmen using rudimentary tools. Working with precious metals and bronze, sometimes adorned with gemstones, the array of styles is breathtaking. Complicated designs are picked out using a variety of techniques including wirework, repoussé and granulation. Intricate chains were created using delicate gold links or woven from fine gold wire interspersed with glass beads or ornate gold panels. Brooches had the dual purpose of being both a functional item being used as a closure, and also as a way of showing off status and wealth. Matching earrings of a multitude of varying designs are another option. Jewellery in the ancient world was owned by only the rich and powerful.
Ancient jewellery shows off timeless beauty. These pieces are extremely wearable and still evoke the same admiration now as they did when first created. The collection of ancient jewellery at Berganza is constantly changing why not see if we have an ancient piece for you to add to your collection?
