Victorian gold and enamel chatelaine. A yellow gold and enamel chatelaine in the design of a snake, the eyes set with two old cut natural rubies and featuring cloisonné royal blue enamelling throughout the carved scaled body, with three chains extending from the top, each with a different terminating object, set to top with a loop or else can be worn as intended at the waist on a belt, approximately 4.5" in length. Tested yellow gold, French, cira 1860.
The item is one of the finest we have owned and would be a prized asset to any collector. Of exceptional quality craftsmanship this piece is a rare find.
